We have some very exciting news from the amazing APE Protector team in West Sumatra!
We are thrilled to introduce the new Tiger Patrol Team, who have one very important mission: to protect the Sumatran tiger and ensure its survival for many years to come!
The new team has 10 dedicated members from 8 different villages. Their main job is to respond to (and help prevent) human-wildlife conflicts, keeping both people and tigers safe.
To kick things off, the team took part in a three-day training session. They learned how to communicate with local communities, teaching people about the importance of tiger conservation. They also learned how to protect and save tigers, with the knowledge and tools needed for this important work.
The team then went out into the field, learning how to set up trail cameras to track and monitor tiger movements. This hands-on experience will help them keep the tigers safe in the wild.
The Tiger Patrol Teams are an important part of the APE (Animals, People, and Environment) Protector initiative. These brave people are working hard on the front-lines to stop conflicts between humans and tigers. They also inspire local communities to become true guardians of the forests and wildlife that call it home!
We are so excited to see the amazing work this new team will do. We are also very grateful for your support in making it possible! Thanks to you, these teams are helping protect the Sumatran tiger—and you are a big part of their success.
Together, we can ensure that these incredible tigers are safe, thriving, and protected for generations to come. Thank you for being their number one champion! 🐅🧡
